Default Auspicious Incantation vs. Waste Not, Want Not

Which is better?
I need decent e-management for my monk and mez heroes.
(I used the search feature couldn't find anything on this)

In terms of speccing 9 in to Inspiration Magic.
With micro'ing a Monk's Heal Party (15e) or Mezzie's Panic (10e).

What skill (AI or WN,WN) is better in terms of managing energy over time?

Or is it better to drop those two altogether and find an alternative to no-req energy management?

Heroes sadly use their e-management poorly. They often use their e-management when they're already full on energy, or when the conditions aren't met (Razah uses Signet of Creation when he has no spirits in earshot).

Since heroes are pretty dumb when it comes to this, the best option is to use skills that they can't mess up too badly.

AI will require you to micromanage their e-heavy skills. This should disqualify it, since you don't want to have to babysit your heroes all day, every day. WN,WN is hard to mess up, so I suggest using that.

WN,WN + Power Drain = the two skills most often seen on hero bars. Leech Signet is a close third.

Yep, AI doesn't work well (incantation as well as the actual ai), so your heroes are better off with pdrain + wn,wn

Waste not, then you won't have to micro

AI will require massive micro. They might AI a 5 energy skill that needs to be short cooldown.

Waste Not, Want Not is definitely superior in the scenario you're describing.

Alright, thanks for the insight guys.
The reason why i bring it up is because my UA monks tend to run out of energy in areas where there are no spellcasters to be rupted for Power Drain to work. I normally run AI, but they still manage to lose a majority of their energy (god knows how).

(I run a UA with Three E-Management/Support Skills; 3, Five-Energy Spells; 1, High-Energy Spell (i.e. Heal Other or Heal Party depending on the area).

WN,WN, has always seemed a bit lacking in theory. But I guess I'll try it out.

Since most e-management is situational there is no absolute sure way to make it work.

Lately I've used Drain Enchantment and it actually works pretty well in most areas, it has a higher energy gain than most other skills but the downside is the 2 sec casting time and that it probably won't work well in the situations you mention with no casters.

Also something very important to consider, if you are running interrupt mesmers together with your monk it will obviously ruin his chances of using interrupts as e-management - so just changing your mesmer(s) or monk to do something else would solve the problem, you can't effectively have them both do it.

Another thing is how well are your protection working, if you run out of energy it could be because your party takes too much damage - protection is usually more effective than healing so that's another thing to consider.

Just for fun I tried a different healer in my setup (I usually use a Rit) and the UA build below didn't have any energy problems at all.
